Is Pro-Shield waterproof?

No, Pro-Shield is water-repellent, not waterproof. It helps water bead on treated suede, leather and fabric, but it doesn’t seal seams or stop water coming in over the top of a shoe.

Does Pro-Shield work on suede and nubuck?

Yes, Pro-Shield is made for suede and nubuck, as well as smooth leather and fabric. On clean, dry suede, brush the nap up, test a hidden spot, spray light, even coats and brush again once dry.

Will Pro-Shield darken suede?

It may deepen the shade of some suedes, so test a hidden spot first, like inside the heel. Light suede also looks darker while it’s wet, so judge the colour once it’s fully dry.

Can I use Pro-Shield on smooth leather?

Yes, Pro-Shield is made for smooth leather shoes and bags as well as suede. Clean and dry the leather first, and test glossy or patent finishes on a hidden spot.

Can I use Pro-Shield on bags?

Yes, Pro-Shield suits leather, suede and nubuck bags as well as shoes. Test under a strap or flap first, spray light, even coats and let the bag dry fully before you carry it.

Is Pro-Shield safe to spray indoors?

Only in a well-ventilated space; outdoors is better. Pro-Shield is an extremely flammable solvent aerosol, so don’t breathe the mist, protect your eyes, keep it away from heat, sparks and flames, and store it out of children’s reach.

How often should I re-spray Pro-Shield?

Re-spray when water stops beading on the surface, and after every deep clean. Pairs you wear often in wet weather need it sooner than occasional pairs.
