Leather Paint FAQs
Can you paint leather?
Yes, with suitable leather paint and the right preparation. Check your item’s leather and finish, follow the product’s directions and test a hidden area first. This paint is not for suede, nubuck or patent leather.
Do I need to prep the leather?
Yes. Start with clean leather and follow the product’s preparation instructions for your leather and finish. If a preparer is required, use one suitable for the item. Test your chosen shade on a hidden area before painting the full piece.
Will it crack or peel?
Preparation and application affect how paint wears. Follow the product’s directions, use thin coats and let each coat dry before the next. Do not use paint to repair tears, holes or a peeling finish.
Will the colour match my screen?
Not exactly: screens show colour differently. Choose by the code and name printed on the carton, such as 80 Classic Blue, 81 Navy Blue or 82 Night Blue, and test a hidden spot first.
Can paint fix cracked leather?
No. Paint changes colour; it doesn’t repair tears, holes or deep cracks. Have the leather repaired first, then colour it.
